While attending the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Stephen worked in area restaurants. After graduating with a degree in Communications in 2000, he began to work full time and since has had no desire to leave the culinary arts. After stints at Aurora and Il Palio, as a line cook, he was given an opportunity to become a full time pastry chef at La Residence. During his five year tenure there, he designed and created not only the dessert items on the restaurant's menu, but also wedding cakes and custom desserts for sepcial occasions. After spending a year in San Antonio, hea has returned home to North Carolina to continue his passion for creating composed plated desserts.
